Meet Dr. Pooja Garg, a board certified vitreo-retinal surgeon, providing her patients with compassionate and thorough eye care.
She is a native to South Florida, completing her high school at Pine Crest, receiving her bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and her M.D. degree from the University of Miami. While in medical school, Dr. Garg was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and received the Ophthalmology research and clinical award. During that time, she had the opportunity to create a nonprofit organization that provided healthcare outreach to other countries in the world. She completed her Ophthalmology residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan where she was given the chance to train with some of the top retina specialists. After residency, Dr. Garg entered a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and Disease of the Retina at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Throughout her career, she has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on ocular disease and has presented her research at local and national meetings.
“I am grateful to have maintained meaningful relationships with my mentors to whom I owe a great deal of what I am able to give.” Dr. Garg is a dedicated specialist in the medical and surgical treatment of the retina, some including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, macular holes, macular puckers, retinal detachments, dislocated intraocular lens and lens fragments, and ocular inflammation and infections. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hindi.
“Although I absolutely love my profession, I equally enjoy the other half of my time with my children, exploring the world with my husband, being outdoors (hence settling back in Florida), tasting a variety of cuisines, and dabbling in the fine arts.
